The initial reaction is what a stupid dumbo, why the hell doesn't she turn the bloody thing off - and then comes the hammer blow that leaves you reeling, if not actually crying - cut to said lady, a little later, in a face to face 'conversation' with her mentally ill brother who, prone to violent outbursts, has to have a minder with him at all times. Als britischer Film werden über die Originalsprache noch einige weitere komödiantische Elemente sichtbar und noch mehr Weihnachtsstimmung macht sich breit. Love Actually isn't much different, but the inclusion of multiple happy endings is a clever spin that is rather refreshing. Eight stories involving the love lives of more than a dozen characters are brought together over one Christmas and climax on Christmas Eve, including recent widower Daniel (Liam Neeson), husband and wife Karen (Emma Thompson) and Harry (Alan Rickman), ageing rocker Billy Mack (Bill Nighy) and David (Hugh Grant), the Prime Minister, who falls for Natalie (Martine McCutcheon), a member of Number 10's staff.

At first, figuring out who's who is somewhat of a daunting task since there are ten storylines going on at once, and you need to separate one from the other to make sense of it all. Luckily, the opening scenes for each story are short but slowly become a bit longer and more involved, so by the middle of the film I found myself caught up in the lives unfolding on screen. Eight stories involving the love lives of more than a dozen characters are brought together over one Christmas and climax on Christmas Eve, from the recent widower Daniel (Liam Neeson), the failing marriage of Karen (Emma Thompson) and Harry (Alan Rickman), the aging rocker (Bill Nighy) who just wants to get paid, through to the Prime Minister (Hugh Grant) falling for a member of Number 10's staff (Martine McCutcheon). With Curtis' comedic credentials and the star wattage of pros like Grant, Neeson and Thompson, Love Actually is a laugh-packed affair, with more than a few tears to be shed along the way, and a startling amount of bawdy raunchiness. I never thought I would say this but I think Love Actually may have actually (no pun intended) overtaken 'It's a wonderful life' to become my favourite Christmas film of all time.

Shortly after arriving at their destinations, both women find the last thing either wants or expects: a new romance. There's really nothing to complain about on this transfer, although I wouldn't exactly say the image blew me away either. Most of the movie is filmed in London, during Christmas and the characters all ended up at Heathrow airport a very uplifting note. Personally I prefer practical presents, so the whimsical, thoughtful presents are outside of my understanding.I'll be honest: I'm your average bloke who doesn't tend to watch that genre (I haven't seen Bridget Jones's Diary) but I can say it's a very amusing film in parts and it made me feel all warm inside and put a smile on my grumpy face! These London lives and loves collide, mingle and climax on Christmas Eve-again and again and again-with romantic, hilarious and bittersweet consequences for anyone lucky (or unlucky) enough to be under love's spell. Its very much aimed at an adult audience, but that doesnt mean that The Firm is a cheap piece of cinema. Written and directed by Richard Curtis and produced by Duncan Kenworthy (the team behind Notting Hill and Four Weddings And A Funeral) this zingy Brit-com weaves a vivid crazy quilt of interlocking or unrelated vignettes all dealing with the subject of love over the Christmas holidays in London. Additionally, a pair of porn film stand-ins bond on the set, an artist fantasises about his friend's wife; and perhaps funniest of all, an ageing rock star ( Bill Nighy) tries to make his comeback with a Christmas novelty song. Commentary: Richard Curtis (director), Hugh Grant, Bill Nighy and Thomas Sangster, Deleted Scenes, Documentaries: 'The Storytellers'.

A wayward husband woos his secretary, only to learn how foolish he is, while the Prime Minister falls for his servant. The likes of Billy Bob Thornton, Rowan Atkinson and Denise Richards turn in cameos, helping making this film a throwback to those all-star, multi-plotted comedies of the 1960s and '70s, such as IT'S A MAD MAD MAD MAD WORLD (1963), NASHVILLE (1975), and CALIFORNIA SUITE (1978).
