Description

At this time I'm using three different coffee beans - two of them are medium to dark roast level and one is medium to light roast level. The key point here is that this shot tasted good with a coffee home-roasted into 2C (second crack) where oil was starting to show on the beans.

Deep cleaning: Just nitpicking here, but the plunger doesn't come out of chamber completely without removing an o ring.Intact Idea shall not be responsible for any damages or personal injuries, whether incidental or consequential, or claims for such damages based on any legal theory, which may occur while using this product.

I wrote The Rok Espresso Maker review a few months ago, and in this post, I promised to also review the Flair Espresso, which is the latest invention of this type of manual non-electric espresso maker, so here it is – better late than never ;-). The outer cardboard box is even thoughtful enough to let the very high quality travel case’s handle come through. I bought this as a Christmas gift for my husband, who is really into espresso (he burned out his first machine due to use, if that says anything). The lever wheel presses down, but as it travels across the top of the stem, it also exerts some force front to back.

I had side channeling and sprites with a Fiorenzato Doge Conico, with 71 mm conical burrs similar to some versions of the Mazzer Robur. I sometimes switch back to the signature brew chamber for creating a small single shot, but the difference in output quality is quite noticeable. Another way all Flair espresso makers differ from traditional machines is the way the portafilter attaches to the cylinder.

For espresso, only use a quality burr grinder which creates more uniform grounds than a blade grinder and allows you to control your grind size. This is the pressure gauge kit for the Flair Classic models, consisting of the stem, pressure gauge and steel piston where the stem inserts. Are you bored with the widely available domestic coffee brewing methods but don’t want to spend a fortune on a domestic espresso machine? You'll need a burr grinder of sufficient quality for the consistent fineness and particle size required.
